Maria's writing often blends her scholarly knowledge with her love of new creative forms in both her academic and literary publications.

 

As a freelancer, Maria regularly wrote for KQED Pop! and The Santa Clara Weekly. She also helps others edit their creative and scholarly work. She has reviewed books, managed the EcoTheo Review’s social media, and tweeted a haiku about life as a new mom every day in 2021.

 

As she edits her YA novel, Maria is drafting a flash fiction collection, and workshopping picture books with her toddler boys. She is also working on a history of the Master Gardener program.
